MARSLEEVA Association for Rural Upliftment: MARG Mapranam

MARSLEEVA Association for Rural Guidance (MARG), situated in Mapranam, Irinjalakuda, is an officially registered charitable society under the Government (Registration Number: 41/05 TSR). It holds a deep-rooted connection with the Holy Cross Shrine Church Mapranam. The association's focal endeavor is the production of both small and grand candles, which has garnered Central Government Trademark Registration. These candles are presented under the brand name 'Margadeepam,' a name that has also earned recognition from the Kerala Khadi & Village Industries Board.

At its core, MARG envisions rural betterment and the comprehensive advancement of all sectors of society, transcending the barriers of race, caste, creed, and religion. This altruistic society holds the principles of inclusivity and holistic growth at its heart.

Notably, MARG has successfully secured eight certificates for record-breaking achievements from three distinct record-issuing bodies. These acknowledgments stand as a testament to the association's dedication and accomplishments in its pursuit of rural empowerment and societal progress.

Margadeepam Candle Emporium

MARG Mapranam proudly presents the 'Margadeepam' Candle Emporium, situated at the Marsleeva Arcade building near the Cross Chapel (St. John), adjoining the Thrissur-Irinjalakuda State Highway. World Records Achieved by MARG

Guinness World Record

On September 8, 2008, the Marsleeva Association of Rural Guidance (MARG) achieved a remarkable feat. Through a meticulously orchestrated display of candles, they crafted an awe-inspiring flaming image. This extraordinary creation marked the birth of the "World's Largest Flaming Image," a feat that garnered them a prestigious Guinness Record Certificate. Global World Records

The acclaim continued to pour in. MARG secured not just one but TWO Global World Record Certificates. The first recognized their creation of the largest candle in India, while the second honored their remarkable achievement in crafting the world's largest flaming image using an impressive array of 30,500 candles.

Limca Records

The journey of record-breaking accomplishments commenced in the year 2007 for MARG. In that year, they carved their name into history by crafting the largest candle in India, an impressive specimen that stood 22 feet tall, weighed a staggering 1079 kg, had an 18-inch diameter, and boasted a circumference of 56.52 inches. This remarkable creation, produced on August 31, 2007, found its home in the Holy Cross Church Mapranam, where it stood as a testament to MARG's dedication. However, MARG's journey didn't stop there. The Limca authorities acknowledged their outstanding achievements once again. In 2008, on September 8, MARG was lauded for crafting the largest flaming image using an astounding array of 30,500 candles. Additionally, they secured another Limca Record for the creation of the largest image of a Cross. (Reference: Limca Book of Records 2010, Page No. 34)

MARG's commitment to breaking records persisted. On August 30, 2010, they etched their name into the Limca Records once more. This time, they achieved a record in the category of 'Heaviest Candle Exhibition.' The exhibition featured an array of 100 candles, each carrying weights ranging from 1 kg to 100 kg.

Through their remarkable accomplishments, MARG has not only secured records but has also left an indelible mark on the landscape of achievement and creativity.
